Spanish goalkeeper Iñaki Peña has extended his contract with Barcelona until 2029.
Despite the extension, the 26-year-old will not feature for Barcelona this season. Instead, he has been loaned out for the entire campaign to another Spanish club, Elche.
Barcelona announced Peña’s contract extension and loan move to Elche on Wednesday.
This marks Peña’s second loan spell away from the Catalan club. In 2022, he spent six months on loan at Galatasaray in Turkey.
Last season, Peña played 23 matches across all competitions for Barcelona. Overall, he has represented the first team in 45 games.
With Barcelona, Peña has already enjoyed success, winning two La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey trophies, and two Spanish Super Cups.
