If the media reports are accurate, Liverpool’s total spending in this summer transfer window will reach around £500 million.
To strengthen their defense, Liverpool are targeting Crystal Palace captain Marc Guéye. According to British media, the Anfield club has reportedly reached an agreement with Palace to sign the English center-back for £35.5 million.
Guéye scored Palace’s second goal in their 3-0 Premier League win over Aston Villa on Sunday. Sky Sports reports that he completed his medical in London on Monday at 6 PM local time, just before the transfer window closed.
On the final day of the summer window, Liverpool are also set to sign Newcastle United’s Swedish striker Alexander Isak for £130 million, according to media reports. If both deals go through, the club’s total summer expenditure will reach approximately £500 million.
Guéye, a product of Chelsea’s academy, played for Swansea City for two years before joining Palace in 2021. Since making his debut for England in 2022, he has been a regular in the national squad.
He was also part of Palace’s historic FA Cup-winning team last season, making his potential departure a disappointment for fans and a headache for manager Oliver Glasner. Speaking a day before the transfer rumors intensified, Glasner said, “We absolutely have to keep him.”
