Tunisia has officially secured its place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup with two matches to spare, extending their lead to 10 points ahead of the second-placed team.
The North African side booked a spot in the final round for the third consecutive World Cup after defeating Equatorial Guinea 1-0 in the African qualifiers on Monday.
Mohamed Ben emerged as Tunisia’s hero, scoring the decisive goal in the fourth minute of added time to seal the victory.
With seven wins and one draw from eight matches, Tunisia sits comfortably at the top of the table with 22 points, while Namibia, in second place, trails far behind with 12 points from seven games.
This result means neither Namibia nor any other team in the group can mathematically overtake Tunisia.
Despite qualifying for the past two World Cups, Tunisia failed to progress beyond the group stage both times. They will now aim for a stronger performance in 2026.
The African qualifiers consist of nine groups, each containing six teams. The group winners will directly qualify for the expanded 48-team World Cup next year.
