Pakistan reached the semi-finals as runners-up after losing their final group-stage match against India.
Bangladesh, who topped their group, had been waiting to find out their semi-final opponents. Just like last time, they will face Pakistan in the battle to reach the final of the SAFF Under-17 Championship.
On Monday at Colombo’s Racecourse Stadium, Pakistan lost 3-2 to India and finished second in Group B. A day earlier, Bangladesh had secured a semi-final spot as Group A winners after two straight victories.
Bangladesh began their group stage with a 4-0 win over Nepal and followed it up with another 4-0 victory against Sri Lanka.
In the other semi-final, India will face Nepal.
Bangladesh have never won a title in this age category of the tournament. Last year, their dream was shattered after a 2-0 defeat to India in the final.
Pakistan, on the other hand, have never reached a final in this age group. In the previous edition, Bangladesh beat them 8-7 on penalties after a 2-2 draw in the semi-final to book their place in the final.
