La Liga champions Barcelona have lost two more players for several weeks.
Already struggling with several injuries, the Catalan side now faces a double setback as forward Raphinha and goalkeeper Joan Garcia will be sidelined.
On Friday, Barcelona confirmed via their official website that Raphinha could miss nearly three weeks due to a hamstring injury. Garcia, who suffered a left knee meniscus injury, is scheduled for surgery on Saturday and will be out for four to six weeks.
Both players sustained their injuries during Thursday’s 3-1 La Liga victory over Real Oviedo.
Earlier, goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen and midfielder Gavi were already sidelined due to injury. Midfielder Fermin Lopez also suffered an injury last Sunday. With Raphinha and Garcia now out, Barcelona have lost a total of four key players in recent weeks.
There is some positive news, however. Defender Alejandro Balde and forward Lamine Yamal have returned to training after recovering from injuries. They could feature against Real Sociedad in La Liga on Sunday, ahead of Barcelona’s Champions League clash with PSG on Wednesday.
In Garcia’s absence, goalkeeper Voychek Stansny may take charge of the goal. Garcia joined Barcelona from Espanyol last June and had featured in every match for the team this season.
After six matches, Barcelona sit second in La Liga with 16 points, just two behind leaders Real Madrid.
