After returning home, the England-based defensive midfielder has joined the training camp ahead of the upcoming match against Hong Kong China.
The player who has recently sparked massive excitement in Bangladeshi football, Hamza Choudhury, has arrived in Dhaka. Landing in the afternoon from England, the Leicester City midfielder went straight to the team hotel. He also shared a message of determination, expressing hope for success in the Asian Cup Qualifier match against Hong Kong China.
Bangladesh will face Hong Kong China in the third-round Asian Cup Qualifier on Thursday at the National Stadium. Hamza returned to Dhaka on Monday afternoon and headed to the team hotel, where he sent a message to the fans.
“Arrived safely. Inshallah, we will be successful. On the 9th, we will play against Hong Kong at the National Stadium. Inshallah, everyone will support us.”
Hamza is expected to join the team’s practice session on Tuesday afternoon at the National Stadium. If everything goes as planned, he will have three sessions to train with his teammates. Another expatriate player, Shomit Som, is also expected to join the camp on Tuesday.
Hamza made his debut for Bangladesh on March 25 in the Asian Cup Qualifier against India in Shillong. Since then, he has played against Bhutan and Singapore, even scoring a goal against Bhutan.
Bangladesh’s position in Group C of the qualifiers remains challenging. Both Singapore and Hong Kong have four points each, while Bangladesh and India are on one point apiece. Currently sitting third in the table, Bangladesh will be desperate to beat Hong Kong and keep their qualification hopes alive.
