Kylian Mbappé has always looked up to Cristiano Ronaldo as his ultimate role model, but he is determined to carve his own path.

As a child, Ronaldo was Mbappé’s dream star—a fact known across the football world. Over the years, that distant icon has become someone much closer to him. Now at Real Madrid, Mbappé feels incredibly fortunate to spend time with his hero, receive his advice, and learn from his experience.

Mbappé has often spoken about his admiration for Ronaldo, and he reiterated it in an interview with Movistar broadcast on Monday.

“Cristiano has always been an example for me. I am very lucky to talk to him, to receive his advice. These are enormous privileges for me,” Mbappé said.

“He is still, in my view, Real Madrid’s number one star. For the players at Real, he remains the ultimate example, having achieved so much. Fans still dream about Cristiano. But I want to follow my own path.”

During his time at Real Madrid from 2009 to 2018, Ronaldo scored 450 goals and won 16 trophies, including four Champions League titles.

Matching Ronaldo’s legendary stature at Real is no easy task. Yet, the expectations of the fans now revolve around Mbappé. The French star has already begun chasing those hopes, breaking records in his debut season with 44 goals. This new season has started even stronger, with 14 goals already to his name.
