Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti has said that Neymar is still part of his plans, but he must be fully fit to return to the team.
The door remains open for Brazil’s biggest star. The current coach of the five-time world champions confirmed that Neymar is very much on his mind. However, to make a comeback to the national team, the forward must be in full fitness.
Neymar has been out of the Brazil squad for two years. The 33-year-old has struggled with injuries and has been unable to perform consistently since joining Santos last year from the Saudi Pro League.
On their Asia tour, Brazil will face Japan in their second friendly match on Tuesday. At a press conference the day before, Ancelotti again shared his thoughts about Neymar.
“Without any issues, Neymar can perform at his highest level for these teams. When he is physically fit, he has the talent to play not just for Brazil, but for any team in the world,” said Ancelotti.
The former Barcelona and PSG forward last played for Brazil in October 2023, when he suffered a knee ligament injury. Subsequent injuries have prolonged his wait for a national team return.
