Enzo Maresca has been fined in addition to receiving a suspension.
Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has been punished for misconduct during his team’s Premier League win over Liverpool. He has been handed a one-match touchline ban.
The Football Association (FA) confirmed the decision in a statement on Wednesday. Alongside the suspension, Maresca has also been fined £8,000.
Earlier this month at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea defeated Liverpool 2-1 in a thrilling contest. In the fifth minute of added time, Estevão scored the winning goal. Maresca sprinted from the dugout to the corner flag and celebrated wildly with his players, which led to his second yellow card and dismissal.
He was later charged with improper conduct during the match. The FA stated that Maresca accepted the charge and agreed to the punishment.
As a result, Maresca will not be on the touchline for Chelsea’s upcoming Premier League fixture against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
Chelsea currently sit seventh in the league table with 11 points from seven matches, trailing leaders Arsenal by five points.
