The footballer who’s been in brilliant form on loan at Everton might soon be seen again in a Manchester City shirt.
The Jack Grealish Pep Guardiola had been searching for — he’s finally found him. The only problem is, Grealish is showing that form in another team’s colours. Still, Guardiola couldn’t hide his excitement, even hinting that the in-form winger could one day return to Manchester City.
Not too long ago, Grealish was one of City’s key players. But at one point, he lost his rhythm and struggled to find his place in the team. Last August, he went out on loan to Everton — perhaps the wake-up call he needed. Since joining them, he’s been in outstanding form, delivering strong performances match after match this season.
On Saturday, City face Everton in the Premier League, but Guardiola won’t have to worry about stopping Grealish this time — the 30-year-old winger won’t feature in the game.
Even if he won’t be on the pitch, Grealish still has a place in Guardiola’s heart. Seeing him rediscover his old self has prompted the City boss to hint at a possible reunion.
“I think he still has one year left on his contract with us. The most important thing is that he’s found himself again. His impact in Everton’s matches has been massive. The way he’s playing — who knows, maybe Manchester City will want him back.”
“Anything can happen, let’s see… But what matters most is that he’s playing again, getting regular minutes, and performing really well. That’s his true level. I’m happy — really happy — that he’s back to himself and giving his best.”
A return to City won’t happen this season, though — Everton have him on loan for the entire campaign.
