Bangladesh’s girls were unable to produce any surprises in the second half after falling two goals behind in the first half.
In the AFC U-17 Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers in Jordan, victory was the only option for Alpi and Suravi’s team. Conceding two goals in the first half made the task almost impossible, and they couldn’t turn things around in the second half. Losing to Chinese Taipei, Bangladesh were eliminated from the qualifiers.
In their second and final Group H match on Friday, Bangladesh suffered a 5-0 defeat to Chinese Taipei. The girls had started their qualifiers with a 1-1 draw against Jordan.
Chinese Taipei had already set the tone in their opening match, defeating Jordan 6-1 and taking a strong step towards the main tournament. They continued their momentum against Bangladesh.
In the sixth minute, Suravi Rani fouled an opponent in the box, giving Chinese Taipei a penalty, which Wu-Kai Juan converted to put her team ahead. In the 34th minute, Zhong Yunqian doubled the lead with a well-placed free-kick.
The second half saw no change in the scenario. In the 66th minute, Yang Yi-I’s placed shot further reduced Bangladesh’s chances of a comeback. Two more goals in stoppage time extended Chinese Taipei’s winning margin to 5-0, sealing Bangladesh’s exit from the qualifiers.
