Slovenia will be without their Manchester United forward at a crucial stage of the World Cup qualifiers.
Their qualification hopes now hang by a thread. Ahead of two vital matches, the team has been dealt a major setback — Benjamin Šeško will miss both games due to injury.
Šeško sustained the injury last Saturday during a thrilling Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur. The 22-year-old striker was forced off in the 88th minute with a knee problem.
At the time, Manchester United had assured fans that the injury wasn’t serious. However, it has now ruled him out of action for a while.
The young forward has represented his country 45 times so far.
In the European World Cup qualifiers, Slovenia currently sit third in Group B. They will face Kosovo on Saturday — a must-win match to keep their World Cup hopes alive. Then, on Tuesday, they’ll meet Sweden, where at least a draw is needed to stay in contention for the playoff spot as the group’s runners-up.
