England coach has already called up two new players to the squad.
Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah and Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford have been added to replace injured duo Anthony Gordon and Nick Pope.
The Football Association (FA) confirmed in a statement on Tuesday that the two have been included in the squad for England’s final World Cup qualifying matches against Serbia and Albania.
There are also concerns over Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guéhi, who is nursing a foot injury. If he fails to recover in time, Chalobah could earn his second international cap, while Trafford still awaits his debut.
Chalobah made his senior debut for England last June in a friendly against Senegal, following Thomas Tuchel’s appointment as head coach. However, he missed out on the next two international windows. It was also under Tuchel’s management that Chalobah made his Chelsea debut in 2021.
England have already secured their place in the 2026 World Cup. They will face Serbia at Wembley on Thursday, followed by a match against Albania on Sunday.
The Three Lions sit comfortably at the top of Group K with 18 points, having won all six of their matches so far. Serbia (10 points) and Albania (11 points) remain in contention for the runners-up spot.
In the European qualifiers, only the group winners advance directly to the 2026 World Cup, while the runners-up must go through the play-offs.
