After positive talks with coach Arna Slot, the experienced forward has returned to Liverpool’s squad.
Following constructive discussions with head coach Arna Slot, Mohamed Salah has been included in Liverpool’s squad for the match against Brighton & Hove Albion.
Liverpool will face Brighton in their English Premier League clash on Saturday. Salah met with Slot the day before the game, on Friday.
With many Liverpool players struggling with injuries, Slot took the initiative to resolve the issue in the club’s best interest. At a pre-match press conference, he said, “There is no reason that I would want him not to be involved.”
As a result, Salah spent the full time on the bench in two of Liverpool’s last three Premier League matches, playing only as a substitute in the other. After last week’s 3-3 draw against Leeds United, his accumulated frustration and anger seemed to boil over. He expressed that his relationship with the coach had become strained and felt that “someone in the team wants all the blame to fall on me.”
Following these explosive remarks, Salah was left out of the squad for Liverpool’s Champions League match against Inter Milan last Tuesday. Even after a 1-0 win, Slot did not hide his dissatisfaction with Salah.
In that interview, Salah mentioned that Saturday’s match will be an opportunity to bid farewell to Anfield. He has invited his mother to attend the game, the experienced Egyptian forward said.
Salah signed a new two-year contract in April. However, recent events have cast uncertainty over his future. Slot said at the press conference, “I will speak with Salah, and how things stand tomorrow will depend on the outcome of that discussion.”
