The English striker believes he could break the single-season Bundesliga scoring record.
After a promising start in his first season, Harry Kane struggled to make a major impact. However, this season with Bayern Munich, he has been scoring at a remarkable rate, giving him hope that he could challenge the Bundesliga’s all-time single-season goal record.
Robert Lewandowski set that record in the 2020-21 season, scoring 41 goals in 29 matches for Bayern Munich.
This season, Kane has already scored 18 goals in just 14 Bundesliga games, alongside 5 goals in 6 Champions League matches.
In an interview with Sky Sports Germany, the 32-year-old said maintaining consistency will be key to breaking Lewandowski’s record.
“I think it’s possible, especially with how I’ve started this year. There’s still a long way to go. I need to maintain this level for another four to five months. The hardest thing in football is staying consistent over a long period. It’s an incredible record and breaking it will be very difficult, I know that. I always enjoy pushing myself to achieve these ambitious goals.”
Kane came close to the record in his first season in Germany, finishing 2023-24 as the Bundesliga’s top scorer with 36 goals in 32 matches.
Before the winter break, Bayern have one more league match, facing FC Heidenheim on Sunday.
Currently, Bayern lead the Bundesliga with 38 points from 14 games, nine points clear of second-placed Leipzig, as they aim to retain their league title.
