His advice was important,” said the Brazilian forward, who hasn’t had many opportunities to play for Real Madrid this season.
Endrick credited Carlo Ancelotti for his role in joining Olympique Lyon after limited playing time at Real Madrid this season. The young Brazilian forward expressed his gratitude toward the national team coach.
In July 2024, Endrick joined Real Madrid from Palmeiras on a six-year contract. He caught attention from the start, scoring as a substitute against Real Valladolid on his debut.
Last season, under Ancelotti, he mostly came off the bench but still managed seven goals in 37 matches across all competitions.
However, this season, under coach Xabi Alonso, Endrick played only 99 minutes across three matches in all competitions. Last month, the 19-year-old moved to French club Lyon for the remainder of the season.
After a week of training with the first team, Lyon officially introduced Endrick on Monday. There, he spoke about consulting Brazilian national team coach Ancelotti before joining the French club.
“Yes, I spoke with Ancelotti, and he advised me on how to improve as a player. His advice really left an impression on me. He told me, ‘Go, improve your game, I want you to be happy.’ Even though I had already made my decision, his advice was important.”
“Ancelotti was a fantastic coach at Real Madrid. I followed all his guidance, and he helped me improve my game. Now I have to work hard to play and help Lyon win.
