The Brazilian star will continue playing for his boyhood club until the end of 2026.
Despite suffering a series of injuries in recent times, Neymar has not given up hope of playing in the World Cup. With the next edition firmly in sight, the Brazilian forward has extended his contract with his childhood club, Santos.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Brazilian club Santos confirmed that Neymar will remain with the team until the end of 2026.
Neymar returned to Santos in 2025 and played a key role in helping the club stay in Brazil’s top division. The 33-year-old forward scored five goals in the team’s last five matches, including a hat-trick in one of them.
His excitement was clearly visible in a video shared by Santos on social media.
“Santos is my place, I am at home. There are still dreams left unfulfilled, and I want to achieve them together with you.”
Injuries have been a constant challenge for Neymar, and he regularly has to battle fitness issues. Just last month, he underwent knee surgery.
The former Barcelona and PSG forward is Brazil’s all-time top scorer in international football, having netted 79 goals for the national team. However, he has not played for the five-time world champions since 2023. Last October, coach Carlo Ancelotti said Neymar must be fully fit to earn a return to the squad.
At the World Cup, Brazil will compete in Group C alongside Scotland, Morocco, and Haiti.
