Manchester City’s coach and players are full of praise for the club’s newly signed winger.
Manchester City’s latest recruit, Antoine Semenyo, has received glowing appreciation from his teammates and the support staff at the Premier League champions.
Semenyo made his City debut last Saturday in an FA Cup match. The 26-year-old winger marked the occasion by getting on the scoresheet in City’s emphatic 10–1 win over Exeter City.
Earlier this Premier League season, Semenyo scored 10 goals and provided three assists for Bournemouth. Amid strong interest from several clubs, he ultimately chose to join Manchester City.
Due to a one-match touchline ban, City head coach Pep Guardiola was not present in the dugout against Exeter. Assistant coach Pep Lijnders, who took charge for the game, was full of praise for the new attacking addition.
“Antoine has adapted very well. He’s a humble person, and we had been tracking him for a long time. He has added something to our attack that we truly wanted and needed.”
“He can attack quickly, he wants to press, and he’s someone who never wants to stop. I think you saw today how fast he can adapt to our style.”
Semenyo played a key role in City’s fifth goal in the 49th minute, before scoring himself five minutes later. Defender Rico Lewis, who scored his first goal for the club from a Semenyo assist, spoke on the club’s website about how easily the winger has settled in.
“Everyone wanted him, and there’s a reason for that. He showed it today. It feels like he’s fitted into the team seamlessly. He’s also a great person, which is another positive.”
City will face Newcastle United in the first leg of the League Cup semi-final next Tuesday, before taking on Manchester United in the Premier League on Saturday.
