Lamine Yamal scored a stunning goal, after Raphinha and Dani Olmo had already found the net.
After a dull first half, Barcelona came out with far greater intensity after the break. Capitalising on two defensive mistakes, they struck twice within five minutes to seize control of the match. Yamal then added the finishing touch with a moment of brilliance. The win over Real Oviedo sent Hansi Flick’s side back to the top of the La Liga table.
The defending champions claimed a comfortable 3–0 victory at Camp Nou on Sunday, with all three goals coming in the second half. Olmo opened the scoring, Raphinha doubled the lead, and Yamal sealed the result.
With 17 wins and one draw from 21 matches, Barcelona now sit on 52 points. Real Madrid, who had gone top a day earlier, drop back to second place with 51 points.
After winning 11 consecutive matches in all competitions, Barcelona had suffered a 2–1 defeat to Real Sociedad in the previous La Liga round. They responded by beating Slavia Prague 4–2 in the Champions League midweek and have now returned to winning ways domestically.
This was Barcelona’s first home match since lifting the Spanish Super Cup by defeating Real Madrid in the final in Jeddah on January 12. Before kick-off, captain Frenkie de Jong proudly presented the trophy to the fans.
Barcelona dominated possession from the start but struggled to create clear chances. In the 31st minute, Robert Lewandowski failed to connect properly with a header from Yamal’s cross—Barcelona’s first real attempt on goal.
Oviedo had a rare effort in the 40th minute when Hassan struck from outside the box, though goalkeeper Joan Garcia dealt with it comfortably. The hosts’ best chance of the first half came in stoppage time, when Raphinha’s volley from Marc Casadó’s cross was denied by the Oviedo keeper. Of their five shots before the break, only one was on target.
Barcelona finally broke through in the 52nd minute. A defensive error gifted them a loose ball inside the box, and Olmo calmly fired a low shot into the far corner. Five minutes later, another mistake proved costly as Raphinha pounced on a misplaced back-pass, rounded the advancing goalkeeper, and chipped the ball home to make it 2–0.
The Brazilian forward now has 12 goals and five assists in 20 appearances across all competitions this season. Three minutes after scoring, he was replaced by Fermín López.
Yamal wrapped up the win in the 73rd minute with a superb goal, again stemming from an Oviedo error. Casadó intercepted a poor goal kick near midfield and fed Olmo, who flicked the ball into the box. Yamal finished acrobatically with a stunning volley.
Barcelona could have added more in stoppage time, but Lewandowski was denied by the goalkeeper.
Oviedo remain rooted to the bottom of the table with just 13 points from 21 matches, having lost 12 times.
