Atlético de Madrid Signs Nigerian Forward Ademola Lookman

Ademola Lookman is now in Madrid to finalize his contract with the Spanish club.

Atlético Madrid has reached an agreement with Italian side Atalanta to sign Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman. The Spanish club confirmed that the player is currently in Madrid to complete the signing formalities.

On Monday, the 28-year-old will undergo his medical. Once this process is complete, Atlético said the transfer will be officially finalized.

Before joining Serie A side Atalanta in 2022, Lookman played for Fulham and Leicester. He has also represented RB Leipzig and Everton.

Lookman has made the most appearances of his career at Atalanta, featuring in 137 matches. During his time there, he scored 55 goals and provided 27 assists for the club.

On the international stage, Lookman scored three goals for Nigeria in this year’s Africa Cup of Nations. Nigeria were knocked out in the semi-finals after losing to Morocco.

In La Liga, Atlético currently sit third in the points table, nine points behind second-placed Real Madrid and ten points behind leaders Barcelona.
