Luis Díaz has seen Harry Kane as a rival in England, but now that they are teammates at Bayern Munich, he’s seeing a whole new side to the striker. According to Díaz, the English forward is performing even better in Germany than he ever expected.
Bayern’s Goal-Scoring Frenzy
Bayern Munich has been absolutely relentless this season. Currently sitting at the top of the Bundesliga, the Bavarians have already netted 82 goals in just 22 matches—an incredible average of 3.7 goals per game. They are now on pace to challenge the all-time scoring records for Europe’s top five leagues.
The historic record is still held by Torino, who scored 125 goals in the 1947-48 Serie A season. In the modern era, the benchmark was set by Real Madrid’s “Centurions” in 2011-12, when they celebrated 121 goals in La Liga.
The Lethal Trio
The engine behind Bayern’s success this season is the trio of Kane, Díaz, and Michael Olise. Together, they have combined for a staggering 73 goals across all competitions. Kane leads the Bundesliga charts with 26 goals, leaving everyone else in the dust—his closest rival is actually Díaz himself, with 13 goals.
Díaz, who joined Bayern from Liverpool last summer, says he feels immense pride playing alongside Olise and Kane. To him, Kane is simply a “machine.”
“It’s a huge source of pride for me to play in a team with Kane and Michael (Olise). They are technically amazing. The way Harry (Kane) does everything so well… he really surprised me. I saw him play in England because we played against Tottenham a few times.
“But it’s one thing to see Kane in another team, and another thing to share a dressing room with him, be on the training pitch every day, see how he works as a team, how he moves, how he gets into the opponent’s area and, of course, how he finishes. He’s a machine. He does everything really well and I’m very proud to be part of this attack.”
