According to AFP, the auction began on November 12 and will run for another week. Each locker has a starting price of 10,000 euros (approximately 12.5 lakh Bangladeshi Taka). The exciting part will be seeing how much these historic lockers fetch.
After the Bernabéu’s renovation, Real Madrid decided to auction off some items from the dressing room. The auction is being conducted through the U.S.-based auction house Sotheby’s.
As reported by AP, the club is auctioning off 24 lockers that were used between 2002 and 2022. AFP, however, mentions that these lockers were used between 2001 and 2022. These lockers were removed during the stadium’s renovation. Among the items up for auction are lockers from the 2021-22 season, a time when Karim Benzema, Vinícius Júnior, and Luka Modrić led Real Madrid to both La Liga and the Champions League titles.
AFP confirmed the auction started on November 12, with each locker having a starting price of 10,000 euros (around 12.5 lakh Bangladeshi Taka). As reported by AP, the lockers were made available for public viewing at Sotheby’s showroom in London starting Wednesday. The auction, organized by Sotheby’s and Real Madrid’s “memorabilia partner” Pursuit 3 Marketing Group, will run until Tuesday.
Each locker comes with a certificate of authenticity, detailing which players used it. Part of the proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Real Madrid Foundation, the club’s charitable initiative. Other items up for auction include a mosaic from the stadium, with a starting price of 12,000 euros.
George North, head of Sotheby’s Collection Sales, said, “These lockers represent an extraordinary period in the history of Real Madrid. This is the first time we’ve brought an entire locker room to the market. The prestige and popularity of a club like Real Madrid are reflected in this auction.
