Two nights ago, Fiorentina’s young midfielder, Edoardo Bove, collapsed on the field during a match. After losing consciousness, he was urgently rushed to the hospital, where he was treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
It was initially stated that Bove’s condition would be reassessed within 24 hours. Last night, Fiorentina provided an update on his condition. In a statement on social media platform X, the club confirmed that Bove had regained consciousness. The statement read, “After a night with no incidents, Bove regained consciousness in the morning, and the tubes attached to his body have been removed. He is now awake and doing well.”
Fiorentina also confirmed that Bove had spoken with his family, club officials, coach, and teammates. Following the positive news, his family and friends rushed to see him. To determine the cause of the incident, further tests will be conducted in the coming days.
Earlier, during the 16th minute of the Fiorentina-Inter Milan match, the 22-year-old suddenly collapsed on the field. Play was immediately halted, and Bove was taken to Careggi Hospital in Florence.
In a video shared on social media, Bove was seen kneeling on the field before standing up and attempting to walk forward. However, after a few steps, he lost control of his body and fell to the ground. Seeing this, players from both Inter Milan and Fiorentina quickly called for medical help, and the match was abandoned.
In August, Bove joined Fiorentina on loan for the season from AS Roma. In October, he scored his first goal for Fiorentina against Roma. He has also played for Italy’s U-21 team and is waiting for his debut with the senior national team.
Before Roma’s match against Atalanta yesterday, Bove’s former club showed support by wearing “Forza Edo” shirts during practice.
