The uncertainty surrounding Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool continues to grow as time passes. However, the club’s goalkeeper, Alisson, remains optimistic that the Egyptian star will renew his contract and stay at Anfield.

Salah himself has expressed his desire to remain at the club through various recent comments. Yet, he hasn’t received a contract offer from Liverpool, leaving him frustrated. At 32, the forward’s current deal is set to expire at the end of this season, with the possibility of becoming a free agent in June 2025. A few weeks ago, Salah admitted in a disappointed tone that, given the circumstances, leaving Liverpool seemed likely.

After Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Girona in the Champions League on Tuesday night, Alisson shared his thoughts on Salah’s future, expressing hope that they would continue playing together next season.

“We all want to see him renew his contract and stay here. I want the best for my club and also the best for him,” Alisson said.

Since joining Liverpool from Roma in 2017, Salah has quickly established himself as a key player in the starting lineup and became an integral part of former manager Jürgen Klopp’s system. Under new coach Arne Slot, Salah has maintained his consistency, delivering stellar performances even amidst uncertainty about his future. In 22 matches across all competitions this season, Salah has scored 16 goals and provided 12 assists for his teammates.

Alisson also believes that the swirling rumors haven’t impacted Salah’s focus or performance.

“He’s very calm. It doesn’t seem like this situation is affecting him in any way. Mentally, he’s completely focused on his goals,” Alisson added.

Salah once again proved decisive in Liverpool’s latest match, scoring the winning penalty in a tightly contested game against Girona. His goal ensured Liverpool continued their perfect run in the Champions League, with six wins from six games and 18 points to top the group table.

Liverpool is also leading the Premier League, amassing 35 points from 14 matches. Despite the ongoing speculation, Salah remains a driving force behind the team’s success.
