The Champions League has introduced a new structure with 36 teams in the league stage, where each team plays eight matches. The top 24 teams from the points table advance to the knockout rounds. The top eight teams automatically secure spots in the Round of 16, while teams ranked 9th to 24th compete in playoffs to join them.

So far, after six rounds, no team has directly qualified for the Round of 16. However, two teams have guaranteed at least a playoff spot: Liverpool and Barcelona. Liverpool secured their playoff place with five consecutive wins in earlier matches, while Barcelona joined them after a thrilling 3-2 victory over Borussia Dortmund. Liverpool currently leads the table with six wins and 18 points, followed by Barcelona with 15 points from six matches.

While only two teams have secured playoff berths, three teams—RB Leipzig, Slovan Bratislava, and Young Boys—have been eliminated from contention after six matches.

The final two rounds of the league stage are scheduled for January, with the seventh round on January 21-22 and the eighth on January 30.
