Despite going through a tough period, Manchester United’s coach believes Manchester City has a higher chance of winning at the Etihad.
In their last 10 matches, City has lost seven and won just one, which clearly shows the rough patch they’ve been facing. Still, in the upcoming derby, coach Ruben Amori considers Pep Guardiola’s side the favorites. According to the new Manchester United coach, the defending champions are in a “better position” than his team.
City’s losing streak was further extended last Wednesday with a 2-0 defeat to Juventus in the Champions League. The following day, United managed a 2-1 comeback victory over Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League.
The Premier League derby will take place this Sunday at the Etihad Stadium, with the match kicking off at 10:30 PM Bangladesh time.
This will be Amori’s first Manchester derby. The Portuguese coach believes that despite City’s rough patch, their chances of winning at the Etihad remain higher.
“Great teams can bounce back at any moment. The way they play, their understanding of the game, and their confidence make me feel they are in a better place than we are,” Amori said.
“Even in such situations, we have a lot to focus on. We will face a great opponent, and I’m paying more attention to our own problems. There are many issues in our squad.”
United currently sit 13th in the league with 19 points from 15 matches. City, in fourth place, have 27 points, trailing behind Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal.
Manchester United has not won a league match at the Etihad since March 2021.
