Lamine Yamal is set to miss three to four weeks due to an ankle injury, Barcelona confirmed on Monday. The 17-year-old sensation, who has been a standout performer for the club, suffered the injury during Sunday’s La Liga match against Leganés, where Barcelona lost 1-0. Yamal had to leave the field in the 75th minute due to discomfort in his ankle.
A day later, Barcelona revealed that medical tests diagnosed a Grade 1 ankle sprain. This setback comes after Yamal already missed three matches last month because of a similar issue.
The injury means Barcelona will likely be without Yamal for several upcoming fixtures, including Saturday’s crucial league match against Atlético Madrid. He is also expected to miss January’s Copa del Rey clash with Barbastro and the Spanish Super Cup semifinal against Athletic Bilbao.
Yamal, who won the UEFA Euro 2024 title with Spain, now faces another spell on the sidelines, marking a tough phase for the young forward early in his career.
