Losing a key player mid-season is a massive blow for Arsenal.
Arsenal have been dealt a significant setback as Bukayo Saka is sidelined with a hamstring injury. Head coach Mikel Arteta confirmed that the English winger will be out for “many weeks.”
Saka sustained the injury during Arsenal’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace last Saturday. In the 25th minute of the 5-1 victory, Arteta had no choice but to substitute him. After the match, Saka was seen leaving the field on crutches, heightening concerns about the severity of his injury.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Arteta shared updates on the 23-year-old star, saying they won’t have him back anytime soon:
“It doesn’t look good (Saka’s injury). He’ll be out for many weeks.”
When asked if Saka could miss the remainder of the season, Arteta responded with cautious optimism:
“No, I’m very hopeful he’ll return before the season ends.”
So far this season, Saka has been in exceptional form, contributing 9 goals and 13 assists in 24 appearances across all competitions. In the Premier League alone, he has scored 5 goals and provided 10 assists in 16 matches.
Losing such a crucial player midway through the campaign undoubtedly poses a significant challenge for Arsenal.
The Gunners will face Ipswich Town in their next league fixture this Friday.
Arteta’s side currently sits third in the table with 33 points from 17 matches, trailing Chelsea, who have 35 points from the same number of games. Liverpool lead the league with 39 points from 16 matches.
