Barcelona’s Spanish winger, Lamine Yamal, has made a quicker recovery from his injury than initially expected.
Ahead of the Spanish Super Cup, Barcelona received good news as Yamal returned to training after overcoming his injury.
On December 16th, Yamal sustained an ankle injury during a La Liga match against Leganes. At that time, Barcelona had announced that the 17-year-old winger could be sidelined for three to four weeks.
There were concerns about his availability for the Spanish Super Cup, but Yamal returned to training on Thursday, much earlier than expected.
On Wednesday, Barcelona will face Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Before that, they will play against Barbastro in the Copa del Rey Round of 32 on Saturday.
Yamal is unlikely to feature in that match, but he will be in contention for the Super Cup. A potential Clasico could take place in the final.
In the other semi-final, Real Madrid will play Mallorca on Thursday. The final will take place on June 12th, with all matches scheduled in Jeddah.
Yamal, who played a key role in Spain’s victory at the Euros last summer, has been equally impressive for Barcelona this season. Before suffering two injuries, he scored 6 goals and provided 11 assists in 21 matches across all competitions.
