Mikel Arteta’s side missed a golden chance to close the gap with Liverpool to just three points in the league table. Arsenal struggled to be effective in attack and couldn’t hold onto their early lead, ultimately stumbling to a 1-1 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday night.
Ethan Nwaneri gave Arsenal the lead in the 16th minute, but Joao Pedro equalized for Brighton in the second half from the penalty spot.
After three consecutive league wins, Arsenal dropped points in this frustrating draw. They now sit second in the table with 40 points from 20 matches, having won 11 and drawn 7. Liverpool remain top with 45 points, despite having played two fewer matches.

Arsenal opened the scoring in the 16th minute through a brilliant goal by 17-year-old Ethan Nwaneri. Receiving a pass from Mikel Merino in midfield, Nwaneri surged into the box from the right, beating his marker before firing a left-footed shot into the far corner. It was his second goal of the season, making him the first Arsenal player to score multiple Premier League goals before turning 18.
Despite dominating possession, Arsenal managed only two shots on target in the first half. Their attacking threat diminished even further in the second half, while Brighton stepped up their game. In the 48th minute, Brighton’s Pervis Estupiñán forced a save from Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya.
Brighton leveled the score in the 61st minute when Joao Pedro converted a penalty. The spot-kick was awarded after Arsenal’s William Saliba fouled Pedro inside the box.
The home side increased the pressure on Arsenal in the closing stages, but neither team could find a winner. Brighton earned a valuable point and remain 10th in the table with 28 points from 20 matches, having won six and drawn 10.
Arsenal will now have to regroup as they aim to keep pace with Liverpool in the title race.
