Deportiva Minera 0 – 5 Real Madrid
In a one-sided Copa del Rey clash, Carlo Ancelotti’s team demolished Deportiva Minera.
None of the first-choice forwards were in the starting lineup, but it didn’t take a second thought for Carlo Ancelotti’s side to dominate the match. Real Madrid, with their superior strength and ability, swept aside the team from the lower division.
In the round of 32 match on Monday night, the most successful European club triumphed 5-0. Arda Güler scored twice, while Luka Modrić, Fede Valverde, and Eduardo Camavinga each added a goal.
Minera couldn’t play at their home ground due to lack of broadcast infrastructure and chose the Cartagonova Stadium as an alternative.
As expected, Real Madrid dominated the match against a fourth-tier Spanish side, relentlessly attacking from the start.
The first opportunity came for Real Madrid in the third minute. Endrick’s shot was saved by Minera’s goalkeeper Francisco Martínez. Just two minutes later, however, there was nothing Martínez could do. Brahim Diaz’s cross into the box was poorly flicked by one of Minera’s players, allowing Valverde to calmly put the ball in the net.
Real kept the pressure on, and by the 13th minute, they doubled their lead. After a powerful shot from Camavinga was blocked by Minera’s keeper, a cross from Fran García found the French midfielder, who finished with a fantastic header.
In the 28th minute, Güler made it 3-0. Receiving a pass from Valverde, the young Turkish forward took a shot that deflected off a Minera player and into the net.
In the second half, Endrick had a weak shot after receiving the ball in a free space, failing to capitalize on the opportunity. In the 53rd minute, Diaz’s shot hit the post. Just two minutes later, Modrić extended the lead with a calm finish.
Ancelotti made four substitutions in the 62nd minute, bringing on Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior, despite the team leading 4-0.
In the 73rd minute, Mbappé’s shot was blocked by goalkeeper Martínez, and five minutes later, he saved a shot from Lucas Vázquez.
In the 81st minute, Martínez made a spectacular save, diving to deflect Endrick’s curling shot for a corner. Just moments earlier, Vinícius had missed a fantastic chance after receiving a superb cross in front of goal.
In the 88th minute, Güler scored his second and Real’s fifth goal. A precise cross from García allowed the Turkish forward to simply tap it into the net. Real Madrid left the field with a resounding victory.
