Tottenham Hotspur has extended the contract of South Korean forward Son Heung-min for another year, keeping him at the club until 2026.
Son, who joined Tottenham in 2015, is now the club’s captain at 32 years old. Over 431 matches, he has scored 169 goals and contributed to 90 others.
His contract was originally set to expire in June of this year, but with the extension clause activated by Tottenham, Son will remain at the North London club until next June.
Son holds the record for the most goals by an Asian player in the Premier League and ranks in the top 20 of all-time goal scorers.
Having played in the 2014, 2018, and 2022 World Cups, Son has appeared in 131 matches for South Korea.
Tottenham will face Liverpool in the first leg of the League Cup semifinals next Wednesday.
