From the opening minutes, Real Madrid created chance after chance but struggled to capitalize due to poor finishing. Mallorca’s resistance finally broke in the second half when Jude Bellingham scored with a calm and composed finish. Two late goals in stoppage time secured Real Madrid’s spot in the Spanish Super Cup final.
The semi-final clash of the four-team tournament ended in a commanding 3-0 victory for Real Madrid on Thursday night.
In Sunday’s final, Real will face record 14-time winners Barcelona. A win would bring Real Madrid level with their arch-rivals in Spanish Super Cup titles (13).
Real Madrid had their first opportunity in the second minute, but Lucas Vázquez’s shot was saved by Mallorca goalkeeper Dominik Greif. Moments later, Rodrygo’s effort was also denied.
In the 7th minute, Kylian Mbappé failed to capitalize on a one-on-one opportunity, sending the ball over the crossbar. Four minutes later, Aurélien Tchouaméni’s shot was brilliantly saved by Greif.
In the 12th minute, Vinícius Jr. clashed with Pablo Maffeo in a heated moment. After being provoked, the Brazilian forward lightly tapped the Argentine defender on the chest. Both players were cautioned by the referee but avoided further punishment.
By the 15th minute, Greif continued his heroics, stopping a powerful shot from Jude Bellingham despite reacting late due to the crowded box.
Against the run of play, Real almost conceded three minutes later when Sergi Darder’s cross found Cyle Larin, but the striker’s header lacked power. In the 30th minute, Larin’s effort from the edge of the box narrowly missed the target.
Real’s best chance of the first half came in the 45th minute. After Mbappé’s cross wasn’t cleared by Johan Mojica, Jude Bellingham had a golden opportunity. However, the English midfielder hesitated for a split second and failed to connect with the ball.
Despite dominating the first half with 15 shots, Real Madrid entered halftime without a goal.
Real’s relentless pressure finally paid off in the 63rd minute. Vinícius delivered a cutback, and although Rodrygo’s header struck the post and Mbappé’s follow-up was saved, Bellingham slotted the rebound into the net with precision.
The goal marked Bellingham’s ninth for the club this season, with seven in La Liga and one in the Champions League.
In the 76th minute, Vinícius squandered a chance to double the lead, missing the target entirely. A minute later, Rodrygo’s shot was denied by Greif.
Mallorca’s hopes were dashed in the second minute of added time when defender Valjent mistakenly turned a weak shot into his own net.
Three minutes later, Real Madrid added their third goal. Lucas Vázquez sent a perfect cross from the right, and Rodrygo converted it with a clinical first-touch finish at the far post. The Brazilian forward celebrated his goal in style, marking both his contribution to the final and his birthday.
