Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mané lead Al-Nassr to victory with their goals.
Although Al-Nassr’s performance in the Saudi Pro League hasn’t been extraordinary, Cristiano Ronaldo continues his scoring form. In the first match of the new year, the Portuguese star found the back of the net, and together with Sadio Mané’s goal, they helped Al-Nassr secure a win.
At Riyadh’s Al-Awal Park, Al-Nassr bounced back from an early setback against Al-Okhduod, winning 3-1. Ronaldo’s penalty goal was followed by two strikes from Mané in this league match on Thursday night.
In the 6th minute, Al-Okhduod took the lead with a close-range goal from Xavier Godwin.
However, the hosts responded quickly. In the 29th minute, Mané equalized after a header from a teammate was saved, following up on the rebound.
In the 42nd minute, Mané was fouled in the opponent’s box, earning Al-Nassr a penalty. Ronaldo converted the spot kick to give his team the lead.
Ronaldo, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, has now scored in four consecutive league matches, bringing his total career goals to 917, holding the record for most goals in both club and international football.
Al-Nassr struggled to seal the win, but with just two minutes remaining, Mané scored with a header to secure the three points for his team. This was Mané’s fifth goal in the league this season.
With this victory, Al-Nassr moved to third place with 31 points from 14 matches.
Al-Ittihad remains at the top with 36 points from 13 matches, while Al-Hilal sits in second place with 34 points from the same number of matches.
