Omar Marmoush is overjoyed to fulfill his dream by joining the English club Manchester City.
Amid a tough spell on the pitch, Manchester City has added another player to their squad during the January transfer window. Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with the club.
The English champions announced on Thursday that they signed the 25-year-old from German club Eintracht Frankfurt. His contract runs until June 2029.
City has not disclosed the transfer fee, but British media reports suggest the deal is worth around €70 million, including additional bonuses.
This marks City’s third signing of the January transfer window. Earlier this week, they also brought in 20-year-old Uzbek defender Abdukhodir Kuzanov and 19-year-old Brazilian defender Vitor Reis.
Since joining Frankfurt from Wolfsburg in 2023, Marmoush has played 67 matches, scoring 37 goals and providing 20 assists. He expressed his delight at joining City, calling it a dream come true.
“For the past 10 years, Manchester City has been one of the best clubs in the world. Representing this club is a joy and an honor for me and my family. They’re happy, and I’m happy that my dream is becoming a reality,” said Marmoush.
In the current Bundesliga season, Marmoush has scored 15 goals in 17 matches. Only Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has scored more, with 16 goals.
For the Egyptian national team, Marmoush has made 35 appearances and scored six goals so far.
In the Premier League, Manchester City is currently in fifth place, trailing leaders Liverpool by 12 points. Liverpool also has one game in hand.
In the newly formatted Champions League, Pep Guardiola’s side is in 25th place among 36 teams and faces the risk of an early exit from the first stage.
