Manchester City 3 – 1 Chelsea

Manchester City bounced back from an early setback to secure a fantastic 3-1 victory over Chelsea.

The match started with a costly mistake by debutant defender Abdulkodir Kuzanov, which gave Chelsea a 1-0 lead in the third minute. However, City quickly regrouped and equalized before halftime. In the second half, City added two more goals, with Erling Haaland and Phil Foden scoring to seal a remarkable comeback victory for the English champions.

In an exciting Premier League clash on Saturday, Manchester City triumphed 3-1.

After Noni Madueke gave Chelsea the lead, City leveled the score thanks to Josko Gvardiol. Haaland then put City ahead, and Foden extended the lead with a follow-up goal from a Haaland assist.

City moved up to fourth place with 41 points from 23 matches, while Newcastle United dropped to fifth, one point behind. Chelsea, on the other hand, suffered their fifth loss and slipped to sixth with 40 points.

City almost took the lead early in the match when Foden’s cross was met by Omar Marmoush, whose shot was blocked by Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez. But the opening goal came due to Kuzanov’s poor backpass, which was intercepted by Nicolas Jackson, and Madueke finished into an open net.

After taking the early blow, City responded with great pressure and had several chances to equalize. Gvardiol missed a great opportunity in the 25th minute, and in the 34th minute, Marmoush scored but was ruled offside. Gvardiol again had a chance to score but couldn’t find the target from close range in the 40th minute.

Finally, in the 42nd minute, Gvardiol made amends, scoring from a rebound after Ilkay Gundogan’s shot was saved by Sanchez.

In the second half, City pushed for more goals and were rewarded in the 66th minute. Haaland pounced on a loose ball after an assist from goalkeeper Ederson and fired into the empty net. It was Haaland’s 19th goal of the season.

Chelsea tried hard to find an equalizer, but City sealed the win in the 87th minute when Foden scored on a counter-attack after a quick break through the middle.

With this victory, Manchester City regained their momentum, while Liverpool further strengthened their top spot with a win against Ipswich Town. Arsenal is second, while Nottingham Forest remains in third.

The Premier League standings after 23 matches are as follows:

  1. Liverpool: 53 points
  2. Arsenal: 47 points
  3. Nottingham Forest: 44 points
  4. Manchester City: 41 points
