AC Milan 3-1 AS Roma
João Félix made an instant impact on his debut, and Tammy Abraham scored twice against his former club as AC Milan secured a 3-1 win over Roma in their Coppa Italia quarterfinal clash at San Siro on Wednesday.
Abraham, who arrived at Milan on loan from Roma last summer, wasted no time reminding his old teammates of his quality. He opened the scoring in the 16th minute with a well-placed header from Theo Hernández’s cross before striking again just before halftime—this time finishing off another Hernández assist with a composed effort.
Roma responded early in the second half when Artem Dovbyk capitalized on a deflected cross from Angeliño, stabbing the ball in at the far post to bring the visitors back into the game.
However, Milan quickly regained control. João Félix marked his debut in style, delicately chipping the ball over the goalkeeper after being set up by fellow January signing Santiago Giménez.
Roma thought they had another goal when Tijani Reijnders inadvertently turned Devyne Rensch’s cross into his own net, but the effort was ruled out for offside.
With the win, Milan move on to the Coppa Italia semi-finals, where they will face the winner of the Inter vs. Lazio matchup later this month.
