With an aggregate score of 4-1 over the two legs, Miami advanced to the Round of 16. In the first leg, played in freezing temperatures, Miami had won 1-0 thanks to a goal by Messi.

Miami scored another goal in added time when Suárez capitalized on a mistake by Kansas City’s Jack Davis. From a high ball inside the box, Suárez cleverly dodged a defender and volleyed the ball into the net.
Kansas City managed to pull one back in the 63rd minute, but they couldn’t threaten a comeback.
In the Round of 16, Miami will face Jamaica’s Cavalier FC. The first leg will be held on March 6 at Miami’s home ground.
