Antonio Conte’s team remains second in Serie A, level on 61 points with Inter Milan.
Napoli had a golden opportunity to overtake Inter Milan and claim the top spot in the Serie A standings. However, they failed to capitalize, settling for a frustrating draw against relegation-threatened Venezia.
A win on Sunday would have seen Napoli leapfrog Inter at the top, but the match ended in a goalless stalemate.
With 61 points from 29 matches, Napoli sits second in the table. Inter also has 61 points but has played one game fewer. Atalanta is third with 58 points from 28 matches.
Atalanta faces Inter at home on Sunday, a match that could significantly impact the title race. However, speaking to DAZN, Conte insisted that Napoli’s focus remains unchanged.
“The result of the Atalanta-Inter match won’t change anything for us. We must concentrate on ourselves and give everything, just as we did today.”
“At the end of the season, we’ll see where our efforts take us. I’ve always been critical when necessary, but not today. We deserved to win, but a draw is acceptable.”
Missed Chances on Both Ends
Both teams had opportunities to break the deadlock but failed to convert. Napoli’s Giacomo Raspadori struck the post, while Venezia’s Daniel Fila squandered a great chance, firing straight at the goalkeeper from close range.
Despite being the underdogs, Venezia put Napoli to the test. They managed 42% possession and took 13 shots, four of which were on target. Napoli, on the other hand, had 15 attempts, with seven testing the keeper.
Ultimately, it was a frustrating night for Napoli as they missed their chance to take control of the Serie A title race.
