Barcelona will be without Raphinha and Ronald Araújo if their postponed match is played on the newly assigned date.
Following the tragic passing of the team’s doctor, Carles Minarro García, Barcelona’s La Liga match against Osasuna was postponed. Now, a new date has been set.
On Monday, the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) announced that the match will take place on March 27.
According to Spanish media reports, Barcelona is considering appealing this decision.
The match was originally scheduled for March 8 at Barcelona’s home ground. However, just hours before kickoff, team doctor Carles Minarro García passed away at the team hotel. By then, both teams had already arrived at the stadium. The match was officially postponed just 20 minutes before its scheduled start.
Osasuna could face even greater difficulties with this new schedule. They are set to play Athletic Bilbao away on March 28, just a day after the rescheduled match.
Meanwhile, Barcelona was initially supposed to return to action after the international break on March 30 against Girona. Now, if the Osasuna match goes ahead on March 27, they will be without Raphinha and Araújo, as both players will be on international duty.
Brazil and Uruguay have World Cup qualifiers on March 21 and 25, meaning the two key players will likely miss the rescheduled fixture.
