The Argentine forward, who was ruled out of the national team at the last moment, will require surgery to recover fully.
After missing out on Argentina’s squad, Paulo Dybala has now received even worse news. To heal from his injury, he will have to undergo surgery, making it highly unlikely that he will play again this season.
Dybala was initially included in Argentina’s preliminary squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and Brazil. However, he was later dropped due to a muscle issue.
On Thursday, Dybala took to Instagram to personally announce his decision to undergo surgery for a full recovery. His club, AS Roma, also confirmed the news shortly after.
The Italian club stated that the decision was made after discussions between the player and the club’s medical team. The surgery is set to take place in the coming days.
In a heartfelt message on social media, Dybala expressed gratitude to his fans for their support during this tough time.
“After reviewing test results and considering different treatment options, we have decided to proceed with surgery in the hope of returning to the field as soon as possible. Since I’ll be sidelined for a while, I will continue to support my Roma teammates in Serie A’s crucial phase and cheer for my national team like a true fan. I promise I’ll be back on the pitch soon, stronger than ever.”
