After recovering from injury, Inter Miami’s Argentine star has started training again in hopes of returning to the field.
The football magician was spotted at the tennis court, enjoying the semi-final match of the Miami Open between Novak Djokovic and Grigor Dimitrov with his family in the stands. Later, two legends from different sports met, sparking conversations across the sports world. But the burning question remains: When will Messi return to the field?
Messi last played for Inter Miami on March 16 in a 2-1 victory against Atlanta United. He was scheduled to play for Argentina in the World Cup qualifiers, but due to injury, he was absent from the squad for the matches against Uruguay and Brazil.
Argentina won both matches without Messi, and before the Brazil match, it was confirmed that they would qualify for the World Cup.
Messi is now close to making his comeback. He has resumed training with Miami, and the team will face Philadelphia Union on Saturday. Ahead of the match, Miami’s coach Javier Mascherano shared some positive news.
“Leo is doing well and is following everything as he should. Unless something unusual happens, his name will be on the match roster,” Mascherano said.
However, the coach did not confirm whether Messi would start in the lineup.
Currently, Miami is third in the Major League Soccer standings with 10 points from four matches. Philadelphia leads with 12 points from five matches.
