Despite winning two trophies under this German coach, things haven’t been going well for the German club this season.
In a disappointing journey, RB Leipzig could no longer place their trust in coach Marco Rose until the end of the season. As a result, the Bundesliga club decided to part ways with the coach.
Rose took over the reins in September 2022, replacing former coach Domenico Tedesco. Under his guidance, Leipzig had an undefeated start to the current domestic season, but soon lost their way. After 27 matches in the Bundesliga, they sit in sixth place with 42 points, three points behind fourth place.
Their most challenging period came in the Champions League, where they played eight matches, losing seven of them. With just three points, they were eliminated in the group stage, finishing 32nd.
However, Leipzig managed to reach the semi-finals of the German Cup. Yet, in the Bundesliga, they remain trapped in a cycle of failure. After a 1-0 loss to Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday, the club completely lost faith in Rose.
The following day, Leipzig announced in a statement that they had parted ways with Rose. The club, which finished fourth in the previous Bundesliga season, revealed they would appoint an interim coach in the coming days.
Under Rose’s leadership, Leipzig won the 2022-23 German Cup and the 2023 German Super Cup. Leipzig’s next match is in the German Cup semi-final, where they will face Stuttgart on Wednesday.
