After leading Liverpool to their Premier League title after 30 years and winning the Champions League, Jürgen Klopp had delivered nine trophies in nine years before leaving Anfield in 2024. Taking a short break, he is currently serving as the Head of Global Football for the Red Bull group. However, the German coach intends to return to full-time coaching soon.
Klopp has always stated that he would never coach another team in England, but before his retirement, he dreams of coaching two teams. Those two teams are Real Madrid and the Germany national football team.
This information comes from Klopp’s close friend and former Mainz teammate, Miroslav Tančga. Speaking to Spanish media outlet AS, Tančga shared, “When Klopp left Liverpool, he told me about two of his wishes—to become the coach of the German national team and to coach Real Madrid. But whether either of those will come true, I don’t know.”
One of those wishes may already be coming true. Rumors suggest that after this season, Carlo Ancelotti will leave Real Madrid to become the coach of Brazil’s national team. As a result, Real Madrid is now searching for a new coach. Names like Bayer Leverkusen’s current coach Xabi Alonso and the club’s legendary former coach Zinedine Zidane are in the mix, and now Klopp’s name is being mentioned as well.
Klopp certainly has the credentials to coach Real Madrid. He started his coaching career at Mainz, before gaining widespread recognition with Borussia Dortmund, where he led the team to two Bundesliga titles, a German Cup, and a Super Cup, and was a Champions League runner-up. His “heavy metal football” style won him admiration from critics as well. Later, at Liverpool, Klopp elevated the club to new heights, making them one of the dominant forces in both European and English football.
Therefore, if Real Madrid is interested, they could easily hire him. Tančga also added, “Klopp’s name is definitely being discussed as a potential future Real Madrid coach, but so far, it’s all just speculation.”
As for his ambition to coach Germany, Tančga believes, “I think at some point, he will definitely take charge of the German national team.”
