Reports suggest that the Italian coach has already “reached an agreement with Brazil” to take over the national team.
For months, rumors have circulated about this possibility, though no official confirmation has been given. Now, however, multiple media outlets claim Carlo Ancelotti is on the verge of becoming the next Brazil manager.
According to Spanish outlet Marca, “the Italian coach has reached an agreement with the Brazilian Football Federation to take charge after the current season ends.”
If the reports are accurate, Ancelotti will finish the season with Real Madrid before stepping away—saving the Spanish club from the headache of appointing an interim coach.
Other reports hint at a different scenario. With the new-format FIFA Club World Cup set to kick off on June 14, Spanish daily AS claims that if Ancelotti leaves before then, former Real Madrid coach Santiago Solari may be brought back to manage the tournament.
Ancelotti’s contract with Real Madrid runs through 2026, but this season’s performances have fallen short of expectations. The 2024–25 campaign might even end without a single trophy.
Last Saturday, Madrid lost the Copa del Rey final to Barcelona. Earlier, the club crashed out of the Champions League quarterfinals against Arsenal, suffering heavy defeats in both legs. Since then, speculation around Ancelotti’s future at the Bernabéu has only intensified.
“From that point on, rumors started to swirl that the club could part ways with him at the end of the season.”
Real Madrid’s only remaining hope lies in La Liga, but even there, the title is slipping away—they sit second, four points behind fierce rivals Barcelona with just five games left.
During his two spells in charge at Madrid, Ancelotti has won three Champions League titles, two La Liga trophies, and two Copa del Reys. Still, his story at the Santiago Bernabéu may be headed for a disappointing end.
Brazil has been pursuing Ancelotti since Tite stepped down after the team’s poor showing at the 2022 World Cup. Despite several approaches, the veteran coach declined each time.
But after Brazil’s humiliating 4–1 loss to Argentina in a World Cup qualifier last month, those old rumors reignited. Following the defeat, Dorival Junior was dismissed, paving the way for renewed talks.
If media reports prove true, “Brazil may finally see Ancelotti in the dugout after a long wait.”
