“The team is fully prepared for the upcoming battle,” says Barcelona coach Hansi Flick.
Just days after their Copa del Rey victory over arch-rivals Real Madrid, Barcelona are set to face Inter Milan in the Champions League. Although the celebrations are still in full swing, coach Hansi Flick is confident that they won’t interfere with the team’s preparations. He believes that the players will be even more motivated for the upcoming clash.
Last Saturday, Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 3-2 in extra time to claim the Copa del Rey title. The Catalan team has now won all three of this season’s Clásicos.
Barcelona will face Inter in the first leg of the Champions League semifinals on Wednesday at home. The match is scheduled to kick off at 1:00 AM Bangladesh time.
Ahead of this crucial match, Flick was asked on Tuesday whether the celebrations following the Copa del Rey win would disrupt preparations. He responded, saying the team is fully ready:
“No (there’s no need to curb the celebrations), what I see is that everyone is focused on this match. Everyone knows how important it is to reach the Champions League final.”
“The win against Real was crucial for a positive mindset. We know that to reach the final, we have to work hard. Everyone dreams of being here, and we must keep our focus.”
Barcelona have lost just one match in 2025, while Inter have lost their last three matches across all competitions, with the Serie A title slipping away from them.
However, Flick is wary of the upcoming challenge:
“Inter is a team with players who are possibly in their last chance to reach a final, and they will give everything. The Champions League represents a huge opportunity for them, and like us, they’re two matches away from the final.”
“Past matches don’t matter. I don’t think about them because it’s not my job. I’m focused on my team.”
