The race to finish in the top four of Serie A — and secure a spot in next season’s Champions League — is heating up.
Three teams are currently level on points, and several others are still in the hunt. The battle for a top-four finish has become increasingly intense. Juventus coach Igor Tudor remains confident his side will secure a Champions League berth by finishing fourth.
Last Sunday, Juventus missed a chance to strengthen their grip on fourth place after a 1-1 draw away at Bologna. They now have 63 points — the same as Roma and Lazio, who sit fifth and sixth respectively based on goal difference. Close behind are Bologna (62), Fiorentina (59), and AC Milan (57), with just three rounds remaining.
Up next for Juventus is a crucial match against Lazio on Saturday. Asked on Friday whether he believes his team can qualify for Europe’s top competition next season, Tudor responded with strong confidence:
“Yes, I’m sure (about that), but everyone else is confident too. Every team thinks they are strong. Then it comes down to performance on the pitch… we have to prepare well.”
Juventus suffered their first league defeat of the season back in January, in the 22nd round. However, their recent form has dipped — with three losses and two draws in their last eight matches.
Still, Tudor, who took over from Thiago Motta in March, is optimistic his team will perform well in the upcoming fixtures.
“(Among the players) I’ve seen match awareness and confidence (this week), and also a strong desire to do well. We know how important this match (against Lazio) is and we’ve prepared ourselves as best we can.”
The title race in Serie A is also alive and well. Napoli lead the table with 77 points, followed by Inter Milan on 74 and Atalanta on 68.
