In the latest update of the men’s cricket rankings on Wednesday, Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan has reclaimed the top spot among ODI bowlers, earning recognition for his key role in helping Afghanistan whitewash Bangladesh in the series. The star leg-spinner’s rise reflects his consistent impact with the ball. Meanwhile, all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai has made a breakthrough, reaching the top of the all-rounders list for the first time with notable contributions both with bat and ball.
Bangladesh’s bowlers have also made significant strides in the ODI rankings. Tanzim Hasan jumped 24 places, while Tanvir Islam advanced 27 spots. Captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz improved by four places and remains Bangladesh’s highest-ranked bowler at 24th, following a five-wicket haul in the series.
Rashid Khan’s stellar performance in the three-match series, taking 11 wickets including five in the second match, has boosted him five spots back to No. 1, a position he last held in November of last year. Omanzai, who claimed seven wickets in the series, climbed 19 spots to 21st among bowlers and also moved to the top in the all-rounders rankings.
In Bangladesh’s bowling effort against Afghanistan, Tanzim Hasan took five wickets across the first two matches, moving up to 67th, while Tanvir’s four wickets placed him 97th among the top 100 bowlers.
Among batsmen, India’s Shubman Gill remains at the top. Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran, the series’ standout performer against Bangladesh, rose eight spots to a career-best second place with 213 runs in the series. Rahmanullah Gurbaz, the second-highest scorer with 103 runs, improved two places to 16th.
Bangladesh’s middle-order batsman Towhid Hridoy advanced seven spots to 42nd, scoring 56, 24, and 7 in the three matches, while Miraz, who made 60 in the opening game, improved five places to 65th. Other Bangladesh batsmen saw declines: Najmul Hossain Shanto slipped 12 places to 43rd, Zaker Ali fell 17 spots to 75th, and opener Tanzid Hasan dropped nine places to 93rd.
Test performances in the India vs West Indies Delhi Test were also factored in. Yashasvi Jaiswal, India’s opener who scored 175 in the first innings of a seven-wicket win, moved up two spots to fifth. Caribbean centurions Shay Hope and John Campbell also gained ground, rising 34 and six places to 66th and 68th, respectively.
In Test rankings, England’s Joe Root remains the top batsman, while India’s Jasprit Bumrah continues to lead among bowlers. India’s left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav moved up seven spots to 14th. In the all-rounders’ list, India’s Ravindra Jadeja remains at No. 1.
