Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé could be sidelined for 10 days due to a thigh injury, raising doubts about his availability for the FIFA Intercontinental Cup final. According to a report by ESPN, citing sources, tests have revealed the injury in his left thigh, leaving the French star out of action for the foreseeable future.
Mbappé sustained the injury during Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Atalanta, where he scored in the 10th minute before being substituted in the 36th minute. Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti expressed optimism post-match, hoping the injury wasn’t too serious. However, on Thursday, the club issued a statement confirming the 25-year-old’s thigh problem without specifying the exact recovery time.
As a result, Mbappé will miss Saturday’s La Liga match against Rayo Vallecano, and his participation in the Intercontinental Cup final remains highly uncertain.
The tournament, replacing the FIFA Club World Cup, features the best clubs from various continents. This year’s final is scheduled for December 18 in Doha, Qatar. As last season’s Champions League winners, Real Madrid secured a direct spot in the final and will face either Mexico’s Pachuca or Egypt’s Al Ahly.
