Liverpool’s coach believes Manchester United’s position on the league table doesn’t truly reflect their strength.

While Liverpool has surged ahead in the title race midway through the season, former powerhouse Manchester United seems like a shadow of their past glory. Poor performances have pushed them further down the league table. When the two sides meet, Liverpool are undoubtedly favorites. However, coach Arne Slot dismissed the idea of his team being clear favorites.

Under Slot’s guidance, the Anfield side has rediscovered its firepower after Jürgen Klopp’s tenure. They’ve only lost once this season — a match back in mid-September. With 14 wins and 3 draws in 18 matches, Liverpool sit comfortably at the top with 45 points, six clear of second-placed Arsenal.

In stark contrast, Manchester United has suffered five defeats in their last six league games. After 19 matches, they’ve only managed 22 points, placing them 14th. Their new coach, Ruben Amorim, recently admitted to fears of relegation following a loss to Newcastle United in their last match.

Despite their contrasting forms, the two teams will clash this Sunday at Liverpool’s home ground, with the match kicking off at 10:30 PM Bangladesh time.

When asked if he might rest any key players considering the busy schedule, Slot firmly dismissed the idea, showing respect for the opposition.

“No, absolutely not. They have much better players than their current league position suggests. It may take some time for Amorim to bring the best out of them, but they are far better than what the table shows,” Slot remarked.

Liverpool will, however, be without defender Joe Gomez, who picked up a hamstring injury during last Sunday’s 5-0 win over West Ham United. On the bright side, defenders Conor Bradley and Ibrahima Konaté have returned to training and could feature in the upcoming match.
